hatch release going crazy!

Axle/Gears: poss
hatch release going crazy!

i hit the button it goes up but then pulls it right back down! any suggestions?

Rear suport struts for the hatch may be shot. Not enough support to pull the hatch up.

the struts push the hatch up slightly once released.. but if bad, the hatch weight is on the assembly and reverses / pulls it right back down..
