Paint or interior

I need a paint job really bad but also want to upgrade the interior. Does it matter in which order things are done? I'd like to work on the interior while saving up for the paint job. But if it's less worry to paint the car with an old, crusty interior, then I'll do that.

its all up to you, imo i would work on the body and paint. whats your budget for interior vs paint/ body?

ive been driving a clean gta with worn old cracked/ ripped interior for years. one day i plan on getting aftermarket seats/ rear redone, new carpet, steering wheel.... for now i just work on mechanical aspects of the machine. i get thumbs up where ever i go and when ever i my dad sees my car he asks me when i plan on fixing the big rip in the seat. i just laugh and tell em maybe next year. interior is the last thing i plan on fixing with my car. driving around town people will never know your interior is flawed, lol.

Re: Paint or interior

I haven't got a budget yet for the body. I assume it will be at least 3K. I just need to save up for it. I am not worried about the interior. I just figured it would be a nice project for the winter.

When I used to work for a restoration shop, we would do the interior last. IMO to do the job right you would remove the interior before you perform the body work and paint. There is less risk of getting something on your interior.

If you not going to change the color of the car, then their is no reason to wait for the paint job.Go ahead and do your interior over the winter and get that done. But if your car needs the door jams done and all that, you can get the original color in a spray can and do them yourself.

Re: Paint or interior

depends on the interior, how much you have to do...I would do that first so if you scratch the paint with seats...doesn't matter as much
