I definitely prefer the power bulge over anything else I've ever seen on a firebird. I even like it better than the GTA hoods with the random vents all over them.

Come on TA owners...help us here! POST Pictures, PLEASE! Let us see the different possibilities. I was going to ask the same question as joeyspagz...but he beat me to it! Not everyone is going to like the same things, but please let us see what choices there are. I have a Sun Coast Raptor on my 4th gen...To me it is the greatest, but lots of folks don't like it! I have not seen anything that seems to fit the 3rd gen TA. But maybe you guys have...show us!!!! Please! My 92 TA convertible is waiting…

Re: what hood should i get?
Well ive always preferred the stock Trans am hoods with the vents like mine, but thats just me. Theres that one,the power bulge, and just a plain one. You can always take a stock hood and take the time to mold a scoop to it though,Or you can buy one with a functioning scoop
Heres my car, getting a new hood soon. The ram air II Ws6 hood

I personally prefer either the plain or a very low cowl induction.
I do not like the ram air style at all. I think they only look good on the 98+

Re: what hood should i get?
dylanjessy thank you!!! 3rdgenmaro thanks!!! Now we are getting somewhere. These pictures show what is most popular...are there others? Any less known hoods for TA's? I love our Camaro kin, but do not think a cowl hood looks right on a TA...again personal preference. The 4th gen hood fits the look of a 4th gen...not really carried away with the way it looks on a 3rd gen. I know there is a 2nd gen option (Bandit II), but I would like functioning ram air and it will be hard from the scoop location and the air inlet for the throttle body. Other opinions????

Re: what hood should i get?
Saw this one at the Texas State Gathering earlier this year, but it is a custom 1-off steel hood made from a stock flat hood.

I like the Ram Air I on a 3rd gen, but not the Ram Air II. The Ram Air II only looks good on 4th gens to go along with their openings in the bumper fascia to match.

Thank god some one else besides me thinks cowl hoods belong on Camaros and not Firebirds. And those Daytona hoods, please, runaway from them, they are awful.
As for the 'Bird, the Ram Air hood is the best option. I wish us Camaro owners had such a good looking hood to choose from.

This is the thread on the Fyrchkn hood as seen on the white Trans Am above. It may or may not be what your looking for but the thread has lots of good ideas on how to go about making your own design.
Just do a search on "custom hood" I just did and came up with lots of pics and info on different hoods.

I'm a big Ram Air I hood fan myself. Should I decide I want to replace the factory hood on my '86 T/A, that's what I'm going with.

Re: what hood should i get?
Maybe it's just because I have an 02 WS6, but I can't stand any ram air hood on a third gen (or any other car that didn't have a ram air hood as a factory option on that body style for that matter). They look wrong to me, the body lines of the rest of the car just don't match up to it.
I'm a fan of the 87-92 Formula/82-84 T/A power bulge hood personally. Not a huge fan of the 85-92 T/A hood, but I'll leave it on my 91 since it's original/correct (and I spent countless hours removing rust/sanding/priming it). I usually hate cowl hoods, but that one one the gray GTA didn't look that bad.

I would like to get a Ram Air II hood. Who makes the best quality one is the biggest question. I have heard so many bad stories about them not fitting right!
