Third Gen Firebird stuck headlight

My left front pop-up headlight is stuck down- the motor doesn't even turn. When I turn the motor by hand , the headlight moves up about half an inch before stopping. Is there anyway I can manually open it until I can find the problem? i just need to be able to use the headlights.

Re: Third Gen Firebird stuck headlight

when i had that problem this is what i did. i lifted my hood then i flipped the headlight switch and quickly ran to the bad light and helped it up. then i locked the headlight in place by pushing the moving arm all the way up so it wont go back down. then unplugged the motor.
if u need a pic i could go outside right now and take a few pictures to show u what i mean
it allows you to still flick your lights on at any time.

It sounds like you probably need to change the bushings in your headlight motor. We have bushing kits available if that's the problem. Here's a link if you're interested.

Re: Third Gen Firebird stuck headlight

Just found the issue- the plastic lip on the light was stuck underneath the bumper. Just had to pry it up, now it moves by hand. not sure if the motor works, since my fuel line is loose near the tank and gas spray out as soon as the key is turned. That i can fix myself though. Thanks for the help!

Re: Third Gen Firebird stuck headlight

Ha i remember when i tried my lights for the first time and the same thing was happening. the driver side wouldnt go up and sure enough the plastic bezel was under the bumper. but yea if your motors dont "work" make sure when you turn the cap up top that the metal peice that moves the headlight spins so you know just to replace the bushings in it. you could get them from ebay or thirdgenranch too or other places.
