How To "Bondo" or Something
Heyy heyy yall (just watched family guy lol) i have been actively progressing in my mission to make my firebird look better but hit a speed bump ULTRA OMEGA HARD and now im in trouble..more or less anyway. Ok, i had fully sanded my car all the way down and decided to complete my hood scoop idea i started a thread about a little while back. So i measured, traced, and taped where they were to go. I did all that right but when i cut..i went too far in a couple spots so i have cuts outside of the scoop area. So now ive got to learn how to "patch" or bondo if you will. YouTube has videos but NO ONE has a dumbed down version. Anyway, could someone break it down in simplest form what i need and what i have to do? Please and thank you.

Please don't fill in the holes with bondo, especially if there won't be metal backing it. That's a ghetto solution.

weld the cuts closed, grind flat SKIM coat body filler, just to even out the dips. sand even and smooth, prime, paint

Re: How To "Bondo" or Something
Well i didnt bondo but i was in fact short on change soooo i used JB WELD!!!!! I know this route is unfavorable to many but it worked. Its solid as a rock...of liquid metal lol It not only bonds metals, but other stuff too including fiberglass...as in the fiberglass scoops i were installing. I molded a line of jb weld all the way around each scoops. Killed 2 birds with 1 grapefruit
i also installed rivets around the scoops. Tomorrow im going to finish sanding the extra jb weld off. Thanks guys

Lol like i said, the is unfavorable by most. The weld and grind idea was top notch but i do not own a welder. Had to work with what i have. I know this wouldnt have even been remotely your idea but it worked for me.

if you plan on making any major modifications to metal peices (like a hood), you need to invest in a welder.

Yea man!!! Craigslist is AWESOME. I find ALL my stuff from there. But all the good priced welders go at the snap of a finger. Im waiting for another Miller or Lincoln to come by for cheap that isn't too far off my radar.
