Almost ready for one of these cheap paint jobs....

The car is 95% ready to be painted. I'll wait till its warm, but can anyone give me a link to a gallon of cheap gloss black? Or a common store that would have it? Thanks!

define cheap. What's your budget?

there's a world of difference in lasting quality between tractor paint and budget brand urethane single stage paint.

Check out tcpglobal (restoration shop) and smartshoppersinc (kirker) for good quality single stage paint for great prices

I want a gloss back tractor job. I have a gun and tape sandpaper everything.*
Just need the thinner, hardener, and paint. It's something I want to tackle myself, so I'd like to start learning more so that when the time comes I can have some knowledge on what I'm doing, and where to get paint. Fyrchykens paint came out good I could do than

urethane is no harder to spray than enamel. even if it was, at least use automotive grade enamel.

I've seen your build thread, you've spent a lot of time on your car. why put the cheapest possible paint job on it now? I'm not talking about a basecoat clear coat job, those are more complicated. I'm talking about a simple and affordable urethane single stage paint. You won't regret it.

I'm all ears. I'm torn between orange and black. You guys tell me what I should get, If you had names and even part numbers. Paint is my lowest area of expertise.

Do a search--there are numerous threads which can help you. The basics are sand and prime with a self etching primer. Buy a cheap spray gun from harbor freight and rent an air compressor. If you go into you tube there are numerous videos there which might help you...

here's my restoration thread, but I'm sure it's way more complicated than you want to tackle.

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/memb...on-thread.html

the basics are this

get the body as straight as possible... remember black shows every defect in body.

you don't have to use primer, but it is advisable. it will help adhesion.

do you have a gun already? what about a compressor?

here's a kit that I would get
http://www.tcpglobal.com/restoration...P+AU1901-KIT-M

here's all the colors.. in case you aren't set on black.

remember you are looking for the single stage urethane tab

use the farm/tractor paint if your on a budget... it's cheap and strong... if you have the money, get a real paint job tho....

I did mine for $54. Nothing special about my prep work.
