Buying a Camaro, help?

Hey guy's first a little background. I am 16, I will be buying my first car soon and I want it to be a camaro! I am looking for a year preferably 85-89 And I'd love a 89 Iroc. Now I have about 2,000$ to spend. I know I am not gonna get a mint camaro for that. But the economy is perfect for buying a car, and their going for cheap in Wisconsin. I plan on buying one with a crappy paintjob but nice interior. And I'll do the 50$ Paint job. (Did it on my dads jeep, turned out sick). So any advice on what to look out for?

if you plan to put a v8 in later,buy a v8 car.converting v6 cars to v8s is expensive.

check for rust! get on the ground and check the floor, under the front, under the back, everywhere!!!!!!!!! if you get a rotted car, its about worthless and dangerous. Anything more than light surface rust in a few small spots and i personally would pass.

make sure the body gaps are all about even, if the door gaps are are super tight in the back, the car has been hit. make sure its straight, and also look for rot in the rear wheel wells.

dont rush into anything, done buy the first car you find just because its there. If you give it some time, you can find a great deal on a very nice car with good paint too.

Agreed. And on the plus side if you get say a v8 rs your insurance will be a lot cheaper. $45 bucks a month for me, they wouldn't cover me at all if I got a z28 or a trans am. And even if you get a puny l03 car they still look like classic musle to everybody else, sound sexy for cheap, and can be a very smooth dependable ride with the potential to be a monster in the future.

Good luck, if people can't take care of the outside of the car (which really, really, is NOT hard), there is absolutely no way they will somehow have cared about the inside of the car.
