New Hood louver question!!!!!!!!
Ok so i have new hood louvers for my car, in the process of spraying them black again and now i have a question...
Is there supposed to be some kind of rubber in between the louver and the hood? because there are these rubber gasket looking pecies on my hood atm....
Heres the picture of the hood right now...

Re: New Hood louver question!!!!!!!!
The service manual (91) shows no rubber gaskets or sealer. Torque for nuts (51) to 5 N.m (44lb. in.). I also notice it does not show any rubber gaskets or sealer for the ground effect bolts that go into the interior quarter panel. I had mine (ground effects) off Friday and there was clearly some sort of RTV sealer on the nuts. If it were me I would just run a small bead of RTV around the holes prior to install to insure water tightness.

Re: New Hood louver question!!!!!!!!
Wow who ripped your louvers off! :O haha but yes there are little cushions in about 8 different spots or so under the each louver. The louvers bolt in at the underside of the hood (you would have to remove the sound deadener on the underside of your hood to do this, if it's still there). If you cant find original cushions for your louvers, I would do some experimenting and perhaps use some rubber washers or something similar under the louvers. Also, when tightening the nuts for the louvers, don't tighten them too much because the plastic studs break easy with age. Just snug them enough so the louvers are not loose.

Re: New Hood louver question!!!!!!!!
Actually they have those nuts brand new with the RTV sealer ring on them already, if I recall it was about 10 bucks for 50 of them. Just bolt on and go lol
