What holds fuel neck to body (pictures, please)
I was walking around my car yesterday and I just happened to open the fuel door when I noticed that the fuel filler neck is just kind of leaning in there, it doesn't seem to be attached to anything. I know the fuel pump was replaced before I bought the car, I assume whoever did the work didn't attach a bracket or something. Nothing is obvious to me, hoping someone can point me in the right direction to get this reattached correctly. Thanks.

The filler necks CAN become separated from the gas tank. A search will turn up some threads on replacing/re-attaching them. In my experience a loose filler neck will cause some nasty rattling back there over bumps and the like.

The filler neck is still attached to the tank - well, I think it is. Nothing came pouring out when I filled it up.
Yes, I assume something at the top where you fill the fuel is missing - it's just open all around it. I can probably snap a picture later tonight and post if it'll help.

Yes the neck is attached to the tank which is why it is so darn difficult to remove. There is supposed to be a round plastic piece that is held in by a couple of screws around the filler neck area. Do you have that? It kind of fills the gap and seems to keep the filler neck from bobbing around. With that piece attached you can't really see down into the neck area.

So...
Upon closer inspection, my car does have this piece, but the filler neck is loose inside of it, it's just kind of laying in there (not sure if there should be a bracket in there or not).
I removed the gas tank today to put in my new fuel pump and I found that whoever replaced the pump last time cut the filler neck (about 3 inches from the tank), then used a rubber hose and clamps to put it back together. Instead of a nice and solid connection to the tank, I'm sure this 3" wide rubber piece means that the top of the neck can just bob around.

You can purchase the filler neck for the tank separately but i have no experience with installing it onto the tank. I would hit the JY for a replacement unit.
Whoever ganked it out didn't take the time to do it properly.
