removing the doors?

Hi, When I get back to the States, I wanna paint my door jams with the door off, so I can paint around the edge of the door as well, hinges etc... I am going to remove the door so I can do a good job. I'm worried about aligning the door when I"m done, so it doesn't scrape the **** out of my newly painted jams when I close it the first time. Should I unbolt the door hinges from the car, or try to smack out the hinge pins and separate the hinge in half?

Re: removing the doors?

In order to seperate the top hinge the "pins" have to be ground out. I think its easier to do with the door removed. Plan on replacing the wear parts while you are at it. I spent $260 for strikers, pins, dentent roller, bushings, all were due for replacing.

Re: removing the doors?

I'm more concerned with getting the doors aligned when I put them back on, and not scratching the newly painted jams. Any advice for puting them back on? Or is there not that much adjustment in them, and they pretty much only go on one way?
