Rusted out battery tray.

My car is pretty much clean of all rust, but I guess it had a battery problem at one point and the tray is pretty badly rusted through, to the point, I slightly worry about the battery busting through.

Is this a common problem, have people come up with a fix?

I need to look at it more, but I am considering tearing out all the rust, which will pretty much leave no place to mount the battery, then see about getting some steel "straps" and mount them extremely securely. Then maybe get a battery box of some sort and see if I can mount it in the stock location.

Re: Rusted out battery tray.

Cut it out and replace it with a junkyard part.
camaro and firebird have batts on either side soooo find one with the batt on the opposite side of what you need and cut it out an take it home..
I'm doing one right now.
