From what I have heard they need the side pieces that are welded to the rocker. I have never confirmed it but a few people have said you need them

Really wow, I didn't think about that. So the rockers are different on the camaros then!

Re: 91-92 camaro ground effects

From what I was told its only the brackets welded on. There have been tons of people that have put it on their car so theres got to be a way without that piece

Re: 91-92 camaro ground effects

Do you know if the brackets are on the ends of the rockers. Maybe people weld new brackets on to make them work. It would be nice to see a pic of these brackets, or here from someone who did this.

Re: 91-92 camaro ground effects

The brackets bolt through the back of the front fenders and through the quarter right behind the doors. There's also a support brace spot wielded to the rocker under the doors on my '92. I think there's some pictures of the support a least on my cardomain, just click my sig picture (shameless plug :P )

There is no way no how camaro ground fx are going to bolt to your TA and look anywhere near right. I'd be shocked if you could botl them up at all.

Re: 91-92 camaro ground effects

Seeing as the camaro and firebird are, on the frame level, identical there's no reason for them to not have interchangeable ground effects. Actually, I've seen a T/A or two on here with IROC rocker ground effects. All that would be required should be some mounting hole modification, if that.

Re: 91-92 camaro ground effects

Thats what I was thinking, the cars are pretty much the same. I only want to mount the sides. I will use my front and rear ground effets.

Re: 91-92 camaro ground effects

You will have to buy a Camaro Hood, fenders, bumper cover, and ground fx to make it work. Which means all new lights too.

If you just want to find some way to attach it and "force" it, then that's one thing. But to mount it like the factory, and have it look factory, the TA's have a completely different nose and fenders that wont facilitate that. Ground fx dont mount to the frame, they mount to the fenders and bumper cover etc.

But if you want to try, go ahead.

That said, it would be fairly easy to put the side skirts on there.

Re: 91-92 camaro ground effects

Thats all I want to put on is the sides I don't want to do anything to the front and rear. So the sides will work then?

Re: 91-92 camaro ground effects

I am 99% sure the side skirt ground effects that go on the rockers under the doors will work fine as that part of the car is the exactly same (sand mounting holes) between camaros and firebirds from 1982 through 1992.

Front and back ground effects are not the same between camaros and firebirds and thus are not interchangeable, as InfernalVortex said.

I am going to pick up a door from a Camaro to repair my TA. Does anyone know if the ground effects holes in the door are in the same places Camaro vs Trans Am?
