What Guage steel used on Thirdgens
Hi,
I have just embarked on a restoration of an 82 Firebird. The bodywork is rotted to crap in some sections so I have to start replacing sections. I need to get pieces welded in. Don't really know much about this so will have to learn. I was looking at some air tools like jogglers or flange setter as they are called on some sites. They will bend a lip of up to 1.6mm. I also need something to cut out some sections so I see there are air nibblers for the job. The trouble is that some of these nibblers cut steel to 1.2mm and others will cut 1.5mm. I was wondering does anyone know what gauge steel was used on the cars. I know the chassis is probably heaver but hopefully the rest of the car should be the same.
Thanks.
