Shaved Door Handle Kits

I have found a kit that I want from searching on here. Before I buy it, just wanna make sure that you can unlock you doors from the outside with the remote. The kit is Vehicle Power Accessories 81160-35DP from summit racing. I have looked and I cant figure it out. I know it operates the door release, but what about the door locks? What else would I need?

It's your car so do what you want, but why do you want to ruin a 3rd gen like that? Shaved handles do look nice, but are a huge PITA-I know I have had them before.

If you don't have handles.... what do you need locks for?

Re: Shaved Door Handle Kits

Well i should've been more specific, lock/alarm type. Where I work, I would like to have an alarm lol. And I'm just going for a clean show car look with a daily driver.

Re: Shaved Door Handle Kits

Wouldnt you be shaving the lock on the outside? Might as well remove the locks at that point as well

Re: Shaved Door Handle Kits

dctrouant1995 - Please document everything you do on your Door Handle Shave project. Lots of pictures. I could use a good reference. I have future plans to, remove the trim, shave my doors handles and front and rear marker lights before I re-paint it, as soon as I can get access to my cousin's body shop. My Bird is a daily driver also.

What about Lambo Doors? If you're a Kenny Powers fan and ever watch "Eastbound and Down" the Dodge truck has Lambo Doors and they are always fighting them, Hahaha! - I digress.

Re: Shaved Door Handle Kits

I actually am going to do lambo doors, one day, right now plans are shaved door handles, shaved antenna, remove body moldings, mold the fender and hood vents in where there is no gap in them and a reverse operating hood!

Re: Shaved Door Handle Kits

What size selonoids are you going to use? the ones in the kits are usually to small. be sure to add a switch outside the car somewhere in case your remote takes a dump. I have had them on two of my past cars, they are a novelty at first than you do get tired of them, good luck with the project, post some pics

So true. I had them on a convertible S-10 back in the day. They were really cool the 95% of the time they worked....the other 5% consisted of prying the windows away to fit a broom handle to open the door from the inside. Definitely need a mechanical backup.

Re: Shaved Door Handle Kits

I too have wondered about locks for shaved door handles. It makes sense to remove the locks but how do you keep your car and everything inside of it secure?

Re: Shaved Door Handle Kits

That question always gets me. If you have no handles what is the need for locks?

What do you mean keep everything secure?
It is secure because there is no other way to get into the vehicle other than by a remote or by breaking the glass.

You can break the glass when there are locks on the car correct?

So why the need for locks? You tell me...

Its redundant to keep the locks on a car with shaved door handles.

At least on our cars you can pop the hatch and crawl in. Its not a huge deal
