change to tilt steering in 86 camaro
What is involed in changing to a tilt steering column. i have a 86 camaro, and am thinking of buying a tilt column out of a 89 iroc camaro. Would it just bolt in?

the other part,,,I can't tell you detials,,,I've yet to go pull the one I'm wanting to be able to tell you how much of a PITA it is

it is actually real straight forward. I did this swap the first week I owned my 88, after putting my knees into my then perfect dash and splitting down the edge
there are three bolts on the iteriorside of the firewall, hit those first. there is also a bolt under the hood, connected to the universal joint part of the steering shaft. finally, pull down the column cover(shoud be 2 or 4 7mm bolts) and pull the four 10mm mounting bolts, disconect all wiring, AT shift lock and youre set. the other column fits in exactly the opposite way. only problem i see you facing is 89 is VATS column. Im not sure if that wil have any effect on your 86(wiring to switches in different positions) one last word of advice; tilt columns and standard columns use different ignition switches, just in case you need to change, your old one is NOT compatible.
