Paint Project
My Camaro is suffering from paint delamination, the paint is falling off of the rear hatch, roof, and above the windshield. My intent is to sand the old paint off in these areas and apply some touch-up spray paint w/clear coat until I get the money to paint the whole car. Has anyone tried this before? If anyone has and can let me know the steps they took I would appreciate it.

This is much more than just working out small imperfections in the body. I am planning to ocmpletely stip some fiberglass areas and repaint them with touch up spray paint. I knew someone a few years back who did it in it looked pretty good when finished. This is just to tide me over until I get some money to repaint the whole car. Right now I need to spend money on other things (clutch, and possible headers)

This is not really my area of expertise, but I've done some temporary repairs on some really large chips on my other car(long story) and what I did was mask off the surrounding area but leave about 1/2 inch of good paint around the border unmasked. I feathered the paint to go smoothly from the painted area to the unpainted area. Then I painted the whole are with touch up paint. I unmasked it and sanded it flush with the surrounding paint with fine sandpaper and then polished it. It looks pretty good for a temp fix. hope this helps

go to the bookstore (or Amazon.com) and buy a paint and body work book. There are some meant for streetrodders which give lots of tips. This will help you understand the painting process which will be beneficial for this job as well as a more permanent one.
HP books makes one that is pretty good as well as motorbooks international. Make sure you get one that was written and published in this country. Some of the foreign countries use different terminology...
