Seat belt release button recall
Seat belt release button recall
From what I have found, the recall was only for 84-90 cars. I have a 91 that has the fading and scratched up release buttons. Are these hard to replace? Has anyone done this? How expensive were the new release buttons?
Thanks in advance!

You are right, it only applies to 84-90 cars. The recall is for the button, springs, etc, not the entire buckle. I can't imagine those pieces being very expensive, but you have to ask the dealer to find out. Although the dealer must have a way to get the buckle open, everyone else I asked prior to the dealer said they always broke the buckle if trying to repair it. Your best bet is to ask the dealer for price and what special tool is needed, but don't be surprised if you don't get an answer because they are always tentative to give repair advice on safety items like this that involve lots of liability.
