I was at a college football game, our team won and we were happy...come walking up to the bird and wassuh?
someone had throw a brick at the windshield, and it put a huge smash in it. bounce off and rolled across the hood. dinging that up. Glass all sprayed inside the car. the car wasnt associated with any particular team by stickers or where it was parked..i think some drunk just decide to throw a brick in the air and see where it landed.
Another time i was sitting in my bird in a parking lot and a group of 3 girls and one guy go to get in their car next to mine. The girl getting in the passenger side..flings her door into my drivers door.
I get out...not being mean but looking bummed and go daaaamn, just looking at what the damage was. Immediatly the guy comes up and starts up with..."It didnt do anything....Get back in your car.". in this tone. That sent me off. I kinda bowed up on him, and when he saw how i went from passive to evil in 2 seconds he started backing off. anyway while im exchanging words with him between the cars. the chick driving backs up. (not sure if her foot slipped or on purpose)...bumping me in the back with her rear view mirror. I immmediatly put my hand back on the mirror to protect myself , and now I'm fit to be tied. So since my hand was already on the mirror. with a sharp psush downward the mirror, housing and part of the doors body just broke clean off.....cheap acura;s.
in a flash the cops showed up...i explained they dinged my door..where terribly rude about it...then tried to cut me in half with their side mirror.

surprised you didn't get sued somehow... amazing!
in austin you'd have gotten no less than 10 years for defending yourself... lucky I say

ScrapMaker, you need to get out of Austin... too many hippies there anyway.
So here's the deal, in TX, that law dates back to cattle rustlin' days. If it's after dark, you can shoot someone on your property, otherwise, they better be lying dead over the threshold of your home. I had my Tahoe stolen in Austin 2 years ago and my GTA has had the emblems and center caps removed at my house in the country. Found out about the little crap heads that did it. They cased my place by working for my grandfather doing odd jobs. Knowing I have 16 big, mean dogs, they waited until it was raining so we couldn't hear the dogs bark. Then they unscrewed the light in my carport and pulled out a putty knife. I overheard them talking about it one night in IHOP, went over to the table, picked up one kid by the collar and sat him on the table of cops next to me. They couldn't do anything about the theft, but they took him away for PI, being under age, and possession of cigarettes under age. Turns out he's a little brother of my best friend and he's way too afraid of her to come back and mess with me. My Tahoe was broken into twice in college. People who steal suck, except MP3s... So, long story long, I got matching alarms for the GTA and Tahoe and set them to high sensitivity. Then there's always the concealed carry license, and a woman with a gun is a dangerous thing indeed...

I still like the idea of the car alarm making your whole sound system light up like the 4th of july... it seems like that would scare away ANY thief...

I unfortunatly just had my 94 firebird formula stolen out of my garage 2 weeks ago friday. I've got my eye on an 85 iroc now that will not see the road until every security measure has been taken. (if I buy it)

my battery lasts a pretty long time... more like 6 minutes!
hell, I can't imagine being in my car with the windows up, the subs goin, and ALL the speakers playing a 20,000hz soundwave! I think the crook would think again before getting in my car, muahhaha
I don't think I'll ever go as far to reconfigure the trunk release button, because I will have the radar sensor soon anyhow... plus once they open a door, or trunk it sets off the alarm...

backup battery! they are not too expensive for the alarm or I could wire in a second battery in the rear of the car, which is what I will probably end up doing anyways.

That thief would have to ask him/herself one question...."Do I feel lucky? Well do ya, punk?"

I have one of those column collars. My cousin used it on his GN and when he sold it he gave it to me. The bad news is they don't fit 3rd Gen columns.
I can't even use it on my Grand Prix ( tach on the column )At least it was free!
i was thinking about having camera's all up in my car. one facing the front one back and 1 per side. Have them hidden and if somthing happens youd be able to catch them. Also have a camera in our out side your garage facing your car so you always have a sight on it. You can get somthing decent from radio shack and such.

i heard of a simple and easy method of car saftey if you really feel you car might get jacked...pull the ecm fuse and attach it to your key ring or just put it into your pocket or wallet...with the break ins i dont know..ive shaved my door handles so they are gonna have to bust the window to get in...ill also have an alarm on it as well...if they are gonna bust the window then they can prob go around the alarm...i will also have a kill switch/more of an ignition switch...so i can hide the switch flip it to engage the ignition and then hit my push button start on the console...its gonna be nice but im sure some A-HOLE will atleast vandalize it if not steal it anyhow

I've had my back window busted out. I would never have guessed that that glass was $1700! Luckily though my girlfriends mom saw who did it and picked them out of a lineup. Then it was prosecution time! Although...I only got $250 out of everything because the judge said that my car was "totaled". They appraised my car and said that it wasn't worth the price of the glass. So he got off. But I have a buddy who restores 1st generation firebirds, he picked up some glass for me casue he couldn't stand to see my car in such shape. But, on the up side...It turns out that I knew the guy who busted up my car...he drives an 87 camaro...about a week after everything went down his car got ****ed up, and not by me or my friends. Karma got him and I didn't even have to lift a finger.
I've put ALOT of thought into my plans for my cars security. No crazy Camera stuff or Halon systems though LOL!! My plans involve a good alarm w/ keyless entry power locks, both doors and the truck keyholes shaved (prevents the screwdriver into lock method), interior door panels changed with both the lock/unlock power buttons and the actual lock tab removed (defeats the hanger through the window crack to unlock method), side windows and rear hatch replaced with Percy's SpeedGlass (defeats the shatter the glass to get in method), metal plate right under the hood latch (prevents the put your hands through the grille and try to unlatch the hood method), center console hatch pop button deleted (open it via the keyless entry aux button), then top it off with a quick release steeringwheel hub (so you can take the wheel with you when leaving) and a fuel cutoff switch under the dash. But even with all this stuff the #1 security measure is gonna be being smart with the car, as mentioned no pounding sounds around where you park, park in good spots w/ good lighting, etc, etc.

People Suck
I got to a big college and spots are tight. I have a 83 z-28 with original paint and the car has been stored for 15 out of 23 years. I park in the same place everyday end spot backed in as far over as i can. In the last 2 months since i got my car out i have not one, not two but three door dings on my drivers door. WTF is wrong with people. I feel like shamashing thier hondas up. So much for the original paint and flawless body. No one better touch my fiberglass hood.

When my car was broken into, it seems they did it fairly easily. However, since I didn't have an internal hatch pop button, they couldn't get into all of the goodies that were in my trunk.
To this day, I am fairly sure I will never put in a hatch button just for that reason. Also, considering I have a hatch hole cover, no one could pull it up if they even broke the rear hatch glass. I would consider that area of my vehicle to be pretty safe.

and you know all those dings are from SUV/truck drivers... they have the mentality to do it and not care...
plus their doors are high enough to miss the door guards on our cars...
