Faulty Amp Gauge??

I have an 89 RS Camaro, and the problem with mine is that the Amp gauge reads about 9-10 amps while running and about 8(in the red)before the car is cranked. I had an 89 Formula a few years ago that that did the same thing except it only did once in a while. I have had the battery and the alternator checked, and they both were fine (on both cars, by the way) I also have an 82 Z28 currently and have had 2 other 3rd gens (83 Z28, 85 T/A) and neither of these cars ever did this. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did you fix it. Thanx in advance.

are you sure that it is an ameter? I've never seen an ameter on a third gen. If so, is it stock?

Stinger, You are right, I should have said "volts". The voltmeter is what I am referring to. It was kinda late when I posted this... Man that looks bad..sorry!!
But anyway, now that I'm on the the same page as everybody else, Has any had this problems. I am referring to stock gauges. Thamx again.
