windshield/convert top/creaks and groans

When my top is down, I have very few rattles.
But when the top is up, I get terrible creaks and groans up front where the top locks into the windshield frame.I have had 2 converts and the first one did not have this problem. I can't tell if the noise is comming from the interior windshield frame trim or the top riding on the frame or both.I am gonna pull off all the trim today just to see if that helps or eliminates the noise.
Has anyone encountered this and is there a fix? I sure appreciate the help.......bob

I know you said that you have owned 2 convertibles, and the other one didn't have these noises, but I would have to say that is is just inherent in that you have a convertible which does not have any solid roof support like the coupe cars.

Mine groans and flexes as well. The car's chasis is linked front and back by the floor pan which makes it quite weak.

You could try a 3 point strut brace, or sub frame connectors - these might help,

Other than that, turn the music up!
