Power Hatch Release
Power Hatch Release
I have the power hatch motor on my 92RS and I would really like a switch so I dont have to turn the car off and take the keys out everytime I want in the trunk.

Thats what I get for not reading my posts before I send them. I mean to ask How can I put a switch to open my trunk from inside the car. I have a power hatch motor but no switch. Sorry for the confusion.

Hehe, I just did this when I added PW over the summer, so I can shed a little more light than the other guy
Depending on the age of your car, it should be prewired for a popper! Here's what you need:
-Console switch and connector to connect it to the pre-run wire
-Go to a local GM dealer and tell them you need the popper for a power trunk release.
If you don't have the popper, what will happen is when you hit the switch, the power hatch motor will pop up, but won't let go of the hatch. Once it gets to the end of its travel, it will drag the hatch right back down with it.
The popper brand new from GM is $20, the switch was $8, and the connector I took out of a boneyard car

Power windows are a BITCH to install, and unless you have a lotta time to kill and good mechanics skills (plus a friend to hold the damn window up while you wiggle the motor/regulator into place), I would NOT recommend trying this...although the end result is worth the hassle
The prerun wire (assuming you have it) will be loose under the console, right around where the PW switches should be. As for where it connects to in back, check the Chilton's manual. I also had to add a relay for my alarm so that I could pop my trunk with my alarm key fob as well. Therefore, I'm not 100% sure how I got it to work, but I believe all you need is the trunk popper back there. If I remember correctly, by just popping off the back panel, you should be able to figure out how it plugs in!
