Power seat question
Power seat question
Ok. On my 84 Z28, I've got the driver side power seat. I just got a set of 4th Gen seats from a 95 Z28 and the new set also has a power driver side seat.
Here's my question.
How feasible would it be to take the power seat track from my old driver's seat and put it on the passenger seat of the new set?
I can't tell yet if the track wouldn't fit right on the floor pan. I'm pretty sure you could take the switch assembly and turn it upside down on the seat so that it works right (or just switch a few wires around)
Anyone else done this yet?

Don't forget that the track is going to need to be wired to a switch. Not a big deal, but just something to consider. I personally wouldn't bother because I don't really care if my passenger has a power seat or if he has to operate it manually, and when I need to get into the back seat, I don't want to fool around with waiting for the power track to move all the way forward. Manual is quicker and easier for rear entry. My IROC has a power driver seat, and I'm probably not even going to bother moving it over to my new leather seats, because I prefer the manual adjustment. Not only do I prefer it for the above reasons, but the power seat sits a tad higher than the manual seat, which I don't like.

I wondered about the seat height. My friend has a 91 Firebird and when I sit in his car it's hard to see over the dash. His seat is manual. My 86 T/A had power seats and I could see over the dash easily. I put in manual seats from an 82 Trans Am and they seemed to be the same height as my power seats. Just yesterday I installed some Leather seats out of a 96 Camaro SS in my bird, driver seat is power, and it's still the same height as the other two seats I had, power made no difference in seat height with my car. I'd like the seats to be a tad bit lower.
