I have a 91 firebird and when I press the button for the parking lights to come on only, they light up but the headlights come up (not on) too. I was just wondering if it is supposed to be this way or do I have a crossed wired somewhere.

 

Well my 85 SE doesnt do it and my 88 Formula dint either. I'd check it out. And Im a guy that likes to cruise around 5:00 PM with only the parking lights on because all people do is appreciate how cool the thirdgen bird is

 

My 89 didnt either.

 

Any suggestions on how to go about checking into this or even fixing it?

 

I'm almost positive you have a short in your headlight switch. I would recommend you get someone to check the switch out, If anything is wrong with the switch, dont try to fix it, just replace it.
