Camaro Z28-E (Export) Rust Protection?

Hey guys i'am new on this Website, and from Germany.

Myself i'am 26 and live near Munich (Oktoberfest ).

I own a mattblack 92 Firebird with SAP.

My Question is,

was there a Zinc Coated/Plated/Galvanized

3 gen Camaro Body at any time, specially the Export Model maybe.

(Winter in Europe = salty Roads, Rust Protection, maybe also Canada)

Because i'am looking at an 84 Camaro Z28-E for me.
Except the color, it is pretty stock.

look here.

welcome, to answer your question about rusting, no. these car rot over here too, search a few threads and see the horror stories, best thing you can do is undercoat it and not drive it in the winter, salt Kills these cars, they salt a lot over here in NY (known as the salt belt) and your hard pressed to find a 3rd gen that isn't all rotted out.

Re: Camaro Z28-E (Export) Rust Protection?

Thanks, i understand, yeah my Firebird, was one Edamer Cheese of Rust Holes, this was a lot of work.

salt belt?!

I found the description on Wiki what "salt belt" means, an i understand
that also in the USA not only in Europe, there is a more ore less usage of salt for Winter.

But what has a "belt" (like seatbelt etc.) to do with "salt"

lol

P.S. one thing i have found, that there was some kind of Rust Protection
because of the 83 Camaro z28-E Brochure.

look at the red arrow there it is, "Protection Contre la Corrosion"
whatever that exactly means???

Re: Camaro Z28-E (Export) Rust Protection?

My understanding is that f bodies had galvanized bodies from 1987.

My 1988 camaro has almost no rust.

Via VIN-Code (Fahrgestellnummer) you can find out where the car was build. there was 1 or 2 facilities in america and 1 in canada. I heard the canadian models had zinc protection. I think i read it here on the forum but cant remember what section.
