Although I've worked the scratches out of the plastic lens on my console clock, it's still not absolutely clear--I have used plastic polishes and a lot of elbow grease. Any advice?

That's pretty much what I did too. Other than 1 or 2 deep scratches that remained, it came out good, but one of the hands on the clock is bent up and is wearing a groove into the plastic. Looks like I'll be performing surgery again next year!

You poor guys with the clocks...

j/k. Do you think you could remove it and install a fabricated acrylic one maybe?

The lense is a molded plastic piece that would probably be a tad difficult to reproduce.

I like the clock--only 1 of 800 odd in 1985. It works fine--I'm going to add krypton bulbs to it as well as the AC/Heater control and cluster. I thought that I might as well attempt to make the lens as clear as possible in the process.

those clocks are sweet, i polished mine up with meguires stuff. Did you you progressive grit to polish the deep ones first? I have a couple, I maybe putting them on ebay What do you think they are worth??

The console clock can be repaired. I found one in a junk yard but the minute hand was broken. I did some research to locate parts. It turns out Wesclox (the original mfg.) no longer stocks the parts, but has sold all it's inventory to a place called "The Clock Doc" (800) 256-5362. The owners name is Bill. He can repair the lens by milling it and polishing or sell you another. Good luck, Lon.
