Body Lean help

The rear end of my car started off fine and level but the front springs were haggard to drop the car and the tires rubbed. I replaced springs and struts with moog/kyb front and back. While doing this I also replaced the one wheel peel unit. After doing so the rear end started to have a very noticeable lean, about an inch difference between the ground and fender. I checked over the springs multiple times to make sure they were seated properly in the notches on top and the bottom.

While doing my LT1/T56 swap I put in the fourth gen rear end... and to some surprise the rear end kind of leveled out a bit, but the one side (fender to ground) is still out about 1/4 of an inch.

I am wanting to install subframe connectors soon, would they help solve the problem if I leveled the car before welding them in? What else can I do to help get my rear end level?

Re: Body Lean help

If it was lowered they probably did something with the panhard bar to make it level out.

Re: Body Lean help

Well they only lowered the front by cutting the springs, the panhard bar appears to be unmodified.

Re: Body Lean help

When will people learn that cutting or torching springs is the WORST thing you could ever do? There are drop spindles and kits for a reason. If they hacked it up like that, chances are that other things are done to it incorrectly also.

9 times out of 10 if you have a problem after making changes to your car its the changes that are causing the problem.(or something touched/messed with while doing the changes). IMO a 1/4in. is really close to right on when it comes to a rear ends height from side to side.

Re: Body Lean help

Ronusmc is right that 1/4 inch is very close.
You can try to narrow it down some by measuring both sides front and back. Compare the difference of both sides on back to both sides front. You will have the opposite front corner raised up some from the low rear corner. Is the front difference more or less. If less then the problem is definitely in the rear.
If the front is truely level then the car is twisted a little. Raising the low corner should drop the opposite front corner a little. After any change all four corners need to be measured again. In addition the car needs to be obviously sitting on a level surface. I use my garage floor or carport slab as level as I do not trust any roads in my area.

Re: Body Lean help

Check your bushings on your swaybar and other suspension components, mine is leaning from a cracked sway bar end link...hurry up parts...

Re: Body Lean help

I replaced all sway bar bushings and endlinks. I'm going to get the founders performance lower control arms and panhard bar and see if that helps. Thanks for the help.

Are you getting adjustable LCAs? If there is a more serious problem you might be able to make it look level by adjusting them, even thought it won't really solve the real problem.
