Changing the color of the stock 90-92 gauges

A long time ago I saw a post on this, with a link to a website that could do it, but I can't find it now even by searching either here or the web. I lost the link when I changed jobs, drat the luck.

Anyone have any idea how to do this? I want to make the stock gauges orange or green instead of yellow. I haven't seen any way to do this since it seems like everyone wants to change to white-faced gauges which I have no interest in.

I know that I just swapped in some bright red glass bulbs and my lights turned from yellow to red (not orange). The yellow is really transparent if you have a deep/strong enough color behind it. Just install good bulbs that aren't just painted, make sure it's colored glass.

that is exactly what i want to do. I want to match all my interior lights to my stereo display which is red. Was it hard to get to the bulb?

Nope, I just popped off the trim plate, un screwed 4 screws and "worked" the gauge cluster out. The trip reset rod get caught up with the steering wheel tilt bar so you could just push it in or unscrew the tilt bar. Then once out there are only 4 bulbs that need to be replaced. The real problem is you need the special bulb housings. The stock bulbs are FIXED to the housing and so you need to go buy some replacement bulb housings from pepboys or someplace. There a few models to the housings so be careful that you get the right one, bring a bulb along and you'll find the right one. I'm very pleased with the results. The needle and numbers are all deep red now and I love the look. I also have underdash red neon which compliments the whole red car and grey interior. I know a lot of people don't like neon at all but when you can't see the tubes it looks great just driving around. Kind of a false feeling of warmth :-)
