Rear Hatch Motor Help
So my car ate my worm gear so I'm going to get a replacement.
Everything seems to be mechanically fine though... but the reason it ate it is because when it went down.... it didn't stop going down.. or up.. don't remember. What else do I need to look into making sure works before I assemble it and it eats another one? I can afford to be a bit meticulous on this as the car is just sitting idle anyway.

Re: Rear Hatch Motor Help
the case. its the clear plastic part the motor, gear and all the other stuff attaches to. its not uncommon for it to be cracked and it can be a contributor to your gear beaing eaten.

I think in my situation the 'stop'? was getting a bit flaky... it wasn't turning off when it should and then since metal is harder than plastic it just kept turning when it wasn't supposed to and stripped the plastic gear.

Read the Tech Article I wrote on repairing these hatch pull-down motors. It is under the "General Repair" category. I have all the parts you'll need to repair them.
