I have a '92 RS with a considerable amount of rust on the floorpans. I've stripped the interior and cut out the entire floor. Does anyone know any local body shops that will weld in a new floor fairly cheep? I'm in the northeast region of Massachusetts.

if you already have a new floor pan another thing you might want to think about is buying a flanger and using an epoxy to attach the panel. A lot of shops are doing it that way these days. No heat warpage, and easy to do. plus for the cost of paying someone else to weld it you could buy the tools to do it yourself, and then be able to repair other body parts.

Thanks but i'm trying to build it back to factory specs. This car will be entering shows and i want it welded. thank you for your idea though. i may use that method on my daily driver.

 

Gluing in a support member of the unibody structure is ill-advised. You're right to not half-**** it by welding it in.

 

My mistake, I didn't realize it was the whole floor pan. reading your post over I would not advise it either. I thought it was just a patch panel. I don't know how far you would travel, but I know some good shops in the taunton / raynham area. That is probably 30 miles from you. Harry's auto body right on the taunton/raynham line does quality work. Also After Hours auto body in taunton does quality work as well. The lip/epoxy method should only be done on patch panels. but it does a quality job with permanent results as long as you use a good epoxy.
