Chameleon Paint

Should I paint over it? Im getting close to being done with my body work, slow going as work is killing me, and now Im having this fear that if I just rough up the chameleon paint and prime and spray over it that its going to come back and bite me in the as$. The car was stripped before the chameleon paint was sprayed and its actually pretty thin. Id rather not have to strip it completely, but if I have to Id much rather have to do it before wasting my time and money.

So very out there question, not sure if anyone has any experience or knowledge on this one. Thanks.

Re: Chameleon Paint

If the prior paint isnt too thick to go over, as in too many coats built up, you can just prep it and spray it with a quality sealer, that will give you one solid uniform foundation for your basecoat.

Yeah thats what I figured. Ive just never messed with Chameleon paint before and wasn't sure about it. A shame to cover it up, but to try and repaint the car (pass side damaged, all new parts) would cost me about 6-8k. And thats not what Im willing to do. I will be saving the rear wing tho cuz I just love the colors.

Re: Chameleon Paint

I would sand it down unless you know what kind of paint is on it and then use the same type, enamel or what ever type it is. If you're intent on just a repaint then definetly use a sealer first so the paint wont have a reaction to whats on it
