3 piece rear spoiler diffrences
im adding a 3 piece rear spoiler to my car and im noticing that there are different part numbers for the spoiler. i thought that all the 3 piece spoilers from 82-92 were the same on the camaro.....for example the center piece is good for 82-86 and 91-92 but is different in 87-90 and also so are the parts that bolt to the quarter panels. i thought the only difference was the center section and with that the only difference was if it has a light or not. exactly what is the difference?

I think the only difference is the built in brake-light. this changes the dimension of the spoiler height/width.

82-86 and 91-92 are all ok to swap around but the 87-90 are differrent bolt hole patterns. I found this out the hard way so now, I have a set of side spoilers minus the center from a 86 Z28 if u need some. missing a few of the nuts and the rubber gasket but in great shape.

The three piece spoilers were all similar but they did have changes. They had a narrower center section with the accompanying sides and a wider/slightly taller center section with the matching sides. These were both available without the third brake light in them. In addition the also had the third brake light option. The third brake light option was with the wider center section.In addition the wider spoiler did have different mounting holes from the narrower. A friend of mine has the center sections for each but missing one or both side pieces for his Z28 Camaro.

mine has the brake light, so does that make it the 87-90 spoiler? if im reading all this correct. ive been up for about 18 hours....i measured it and its 4 1/2 inches wide.

The 82-86, 91-92 rear spoiler was a thinner, lower profile spoiler because there was no third brake light. The 87-90 was wider. Because it was wider, the side pieces were also wider to match.
