Drawdown Motor Problem on 87 Z28

I had my daughter slide the button on the console to release the deck lid. The latch released, but the motor did not come up. Now, the deck lid won't latch. How do I get the motor to come up so I can latch and have the motor draw down? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

sounds like a gear is stripped or something. take off the motor and coarefully disassemble it and see what may be wrong.

the bracket on the car may have to be raised to see if that is the problem reach to the latch and hit the switch and see if it goes down more then it needs to be adjusted if the motor does not go all the way down it will not come back up

I am attaching a link to the Tech Article I wrote on repairing these hatch pull-down units. You may need to re-set the pull-down unit by reaching down and pressing on the striker-sensing switch. The switch is located just in front of the latch and is attached with a single small hex-head screw. The contacts in the switch may be getting bad and you'll need to replace the switch. I have all the parts to repair these pull-down units.

Good luck, Lon

Thanks to all for the input. I disconnected the ground on the battery and when I reconnect, the motor raised! I have printed the instructions and parts from TD Solutions, as I suspect it won't be long before I will need parts. Thanks again!
