How do I get the windows out of the door on a 91 RS?
So I am trying to take the windows out of my 1991 RS and I can't figure out how to do it. I have all the trim off and now I'm to the point where there are these bolt like things holding the window and motor in with round nuts. I am stripping the car to race it and I am selling the parts so I want to get everything out intact.

Those are rivets. Drill out the rivets on the window track and lift the window out. There are some members on this site that will tell you to remove the window and track as a unit. Trust me - don't do it. You will only cause yourself heartache, a scratched A pillar and possibly a broken window.

Ok thanks, they didn't look like any rivets I have ever seen. I just wanted to make sure those are a one time use fastener and it was a good idea to drill them.

Rubbish you can't get the window out without removing the track!! I can do it in a couple of minutes, after removing all the trim!
1) you have to remove all the trim, including the mirror and front track/triangle unit and rear vertical track.
2) tape off the entire window and exposed metal edges and the A pillar with blue painters tape.
3). HAVE SOMEONE HOLD THE WINDOW STEADY while you remove the short piece of horizontal track above the rear of the armrest- 2 bolts. You can do it solo, but the window can get away from you and it is a heavy beast.
4) slide the window forward until the front roller clears the track, then back until you release the rear roller. Now you are holding the window free of any mechanisms.
5) making sure the door is all the way open, carefully manouver the windows track out through the wide gap in the front of the door above the hinge. Go carefully and it should pop out. That is how I liberated a window from the junkyard and removed my old one. Instillation is just the reverse.
How do you think the factory got them in?

OK - you were warned. I prefer it my way. I had it out in 10 minutes, and assembly was as simple as putting in a few regulator rivets.
