How to tell an TRUE IROC and a regular camaro??

Hi Im new to this site....but lately I have been a frequent visitor since my soon purchase being a:
1989 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z
The one thing I have a question is on how to tell the difference from an IROC other than the sticker and RPO Codes, just by looks alone to say its an IROC and not just a regular camaro with IROC Stickers on is there any way? Oh yeah I ran the VID#, the car came up as a 1989 Chevrolet Camaro
Are IROC or RS actually shown on a CARFAX report??? Anyway , I hope some Camaro genius can help me out???

Thanks Frank

Other than RPO codes, there's not a lot of "proof" because anybody can fake the visuals. In 89, the IROC was the only camaro that came with TPI, although many came with the same tbi motor that the RS cars came with. You can check under the front for the "wonderbar" but it's possible (though highly unlikely) that if it's a fake, they were thoughtful enough to put one in.

I would look for the wonderbar. Only came on IROC. (Of course someone could have add one also).

Not to mention the thicker swaybar up front. I have an IROC. Most of the visual clues disappeared long before I bought it. All that is left now is the hood, rear bumper and dash emblem. The IROC swaybar is the thickest they offered on a Camaro, with the exception of the 1LE I think. A little more than an inch in diameter probably.

Most Camaros came with the wonderbar already in place. Again, this is a disputed fact. Even the latest thirdgen Camaro is more than 8 years old and most of them have changed hands more than once. Bolting in or removing a wonderbar is pretty simple and straight forward. But common opinion dictates the wonderbar was part of every Camaro out of the factory.

'88 IROC 305 TPI
Crappy 700R4 slushbox
Gutted airboxes
180 degree T-stat
Advanced base TPS voltage
Relocated IAT sensor
Momo steering wheel (gotta luv it)
Ram-air setup coming soon
Flowmaster muffler (puke)
Taylor SpiroPro wires
Accel cap and rotor
Ported plenum
Kills: '94 Z28, Olds Aurora V8, bunch of Mustangs, T-birds, ricers, and others who assumed a 12 year-old car would be too slow.

That's not common opinion.

I've had the 89RS since Sept. of 89. Never had the bar.
