window motor dead

I just bought my 1991 Firebird and oneof the reasons I got it cheap was that both pwr windows aren't going up or down. I checked the voltage going to the regulator and its fine. I'm wondering if somebody else had the same problem and can give me some tips on how to replace the window regulators (motors?).
Thanks

well, found the article in the archives. Looks pretty bad. Did anybody have it done for less money than $400 each side at the shop?

The removal and installation is covered in the Haynes Repair Manual for Firebirds. You can get one at your local autozone for like 15 bucks or so I think it was.

I did my own. $45 for each side plus $5 for nuts and bolts. Total of $95. It not too bad. You just have to get over the fear factor and just do it. After you one side the other side will go alot faster.

I've done them before; no biggie. The hardest part is working the regulator out of the "way too small" holes in the door. Switching the bad motor for the good motor on the regulator is cake (make sure to lock the sector gear- detailed in the Haynes book).

Cool, thanks guys replaced it on the drivers side yesterday. I drilled the living crap out of those 4 rivets that hold the motor and regulator and scratched up all around it. If anybody knows of an easier way to get those things out I'd greatly appreciate you sharing it with me :-). Thanks again
