Loose door handles.

Both o my handles on the outside are loose.( not the part that is attached to the body but the part that you pull up to open the door)

How hard is it to replace handles or is there a way of just tightening them up a bit.

thanks.

It is on an 89 iroc.

Usually the spring is shot/broken. Replacement would be necessary. To do so, the door panels must be removed. Once inside, you'll see that removal is straightforward.

I wonder if this is a nasty rattle on most of our cars. I know we have plenty of em but I never thought about the door handle. Thanks for the post, I'm going to have to check my handles out and see if the rattle. My car doesn't have any door locks right now (broken into twice) so I'm just going with shaved handles, locks, and antenna. If battery goes dead then I'll just have to pop the hatch with the key and climb in .

They all have a spring. It's wrapped around the hinge pin that the handle pivots on.

I've replaced mine a couple of times; they're made out of the cheapest stuff that won't dissolve in sunlight during the warranty period, I guess it's some sort of chinesium; the holes all enlarge, the spring wears out, etc. etc. Replacing them does in fact help out the general rattle situation. I just changed the driver's side one (again) a few weeks ago while I had the door apart for something else.
