Does anybodys Rear Hatch leak???

I'm about to buy a '90 RS 305TBI from this guy. Besdies a few small prolems it all seems good (aas good as TBI gets ).

But when I opened up the hatch, it was wet! He was very messy and the trunk was filled with junk, it was all wet.

I am wondering if this is a problem with the rear hatch (is it known to leak), I checked the stripping and it all seems solid.

I am thinking it may have been the almost empty bottle of Snapple he had under all that clothes, but if anybody else has a leaking hatch, plz tell me how to fix it and how much $$$ will it cost?

Thx

Also how much is this car worth?? --->

About To Get:

T-Tops
Bulging hood
Everything else Stock for now

from what i have experienced the hatch is not all that likely to leak especially since you said the weather stripping was in solid shape.. if it is indeed the snapple that would make me wonder how good of care he took for the car know what i mean man

I have a nickel that says your leak is from around your rear hatch panel somewhere!
Look for my tech article about moving the rear hatch panel and follow directions on sealing it up...

Yes, the rear hatches do leak some time, mine has leaked off and on before, never consistently though, and there was a thread around here a little while back with a bunch of other guys having a similar problem.
BTW my weatherstripping looks cool too.

Hey, mine was leeking bad. The rear glass was replaced and was not sealed right. I took the metal hatch off and put a good bead of silacone on the top of the glass between the glass and the lid worked great not a drop of water.

Yeah mine was leaking. During heavy rain the water would just flow over the rear corners into the car. I just changed the weather striping and it is fine now.
