Where's the leak??? New T-top question
Old problem, new question. Apparently, I have a new leak in my t-tops. I've spent so much time trying to seal the areas around the windows, and now I'm finding they might not have been the problem at all. I got in my car this morning to find water on the console. It was dripping from those dials in the roof. Where's the water coming in? How do I fix it? Pain in the *** roof....

Man, oh man, oh, man.
I'm the water leak guy for a local Chevy dealership (among other things). Listen up everybody, I'll try to help.
Easiest way is to remove all interior trim around the leak. Thirdgens are around 10-20 years old, so they have to be done this way unless the leak is around a window. After doing so, look for evidence under the trim panels for where the water is coming from. Inspect all w/strips for tears or if they're crushed. Check the glue under the w/strip...if it's easy to pull away from where it's mounted, it obviously needs to be resealed at the very least. Then get inside and have a friend go over the entire leak area, anywhere water can get in. Use you imagination, ANYWHERE. Don't use 4000 psi of pressure, a 1 to 1 1/2" bead of water from the hose while vertical is fine. After finding the leak, fix it, replace old parts, and let sealant dry, then test and reassemble.
Hmm...don't think I missed anything...Good luck. Any questions e-mail me.

haha.. just spent a **** load of money trying to fix this. I found the problem and then let the dealer fix it (They all thought I was nuts because they couldn't find a gasket leaking) For me it turned out to be the black bar that goes from the back to the front of the car. It was my fault for ruining it. After replacing the gaskets once, my dad and I adjusted everything in as far as possible and apparently it was too much pressure for the bar to support. It caused it to bow up and water leaked around it. What a bitch...

Sounds like a lot of fun. I tightened up the roofs trying to solve the water problems around the windows, so I guess it's possible that the middle buckled a bit. Hopefully it doesn't rain for a few days, I won't get a chance to take a closer look for a while. How is that black trim piece on the T under the glass held on. It has 3(I think) screws, but it's sealed with something, too. How can I pry that off without destroying everything, and what should I use to re-attach it? Thanks in advance.

I had the problem with the sealant when I was replacing the rear window and tail. You have to use a heat gun to get the rubber/silicon sealant soft and just peel it off the glass.
