Switch Location

I am looking for a good place to mount a fan switch. What are some places you've mounted one? I dont really want to cut into anything, so it can be removed later if so needed. Hence I was thinking of doing something to mount it in the ash tray location (replace the removable ash tray with something). It would need to be recessed somewhat however to allow clearance for the lid to shut. Does anyone know a good way to do this? Also what kind of switches would look good? I was considering the small silver toggle switches, but was thinking they may look out of place. Any pictures would also be great.

Well,
I went to Auto Zone and bought one of thier lighted red rocker switches to turn my amps on and off (and will soon wire a fan switch there too).
I cut a hole into the bottom of my ash tray and the switch fits into it perfectly. The lid closes very nicely.

I figure that if I ever want to remove it, I can buy a new ashtray somewhere pretty cheap....
