Hood latch

MY hood is a pain in the *** to pop loose. I belief that there is a soft spot in the cable. There is a little bit of corosion on the latch. I sprayed WD40 and it did nothing. Any advice?

I had the same problem for a while...i saturated mine in WD-40, and it seemed to help...for a while. Adjusting the hood might help. Other than that, i dont know...maybe white lithium grease?? Pep boys sells this for 2 bucks a tube...good investment. Try and see how that works.

WD40 just gets rid of the grease. It is advertised a cleaner in Canada. If will free up a mechanism a bit but it takes the gease and lube away with it. You should use something like a silicon lubricant that will still penetrate into the moving parts. I did it with mine and it worked great.

Mine kept doing that sh*t. I finally tried raising up the rubber bumpers a little bit that the hood rests on and it opens with every pull now.

A couple things you can do:
1.) Stretch the spring out
2.) Adjust the hood and latch properly
3.) Raise the rubber bumpers
4.) Grease the latch with axle grease
5.) Make sure the cable is adjusted

These things seem to help.

I've fiddled with my hood and it still never pops up. I just do this and it works every time: I first pull the release handle and can hear a click, then I walk over to the hood and push down on it, then I pull up and release the safty catch. I've always had to do this.

I recently fixed my problem. First I put a fresh coat of WD 40 on it. Next I screwed in the Black rubber bumpers all the way in. Then I back them out the same amount of turns. Now it pops every time. Thanks for the help.
