Shaved Handles - Cut out the pocket or just weld over?
To those who have shaved door handles / locks did you guys cut out the indentation and then weld a piece over or did you just weld a piece over? Seems to me you would get a bit better of a weld and less body work by cutting it out, grinding it smooth and then welding in a small piece. But wanted to hear what others who have done it felt was the best option.

First door I cut it out, second one left the pocket in. Leaving the pocket in reduced warpage.
The first door I did the handle and lock at the same time, second door did the pocket and lock separately.
