PS mirror won't move!!! - HELP
Hey people,
I'm having this annying problem with the PS mirror on my TA. The DS is manual and has a little joystick on the inside of my door... but the PS doesn't and I can't find the control for it. I tried to move it manually and I cracked the mirror. Any clues as how this mirror could be moved???

they should be movable by hand unless it's rusted inside. Sounds like that may be what's happening. You may need to go get one off a junker since you can't just replace the mirror you have to replace the whole assembly.

They're supposed to move. It's not uncommon for them to stick though.
Hehe, not suppossed to move. Thats funny, cause that means mine came pointing sky high from the factory
Wince I am going to the boneyard anyways, I guess I'll pick a new one up...
86Richie, how hard is is to remove and replace this mirror?
Also are the mirrors from the different years and Camaro/Bird mirrors interchangeable?

The mirror is glued in, if you go to an auto glass place they can make a pattern and just cut out a new mirror for you and glue it in. shoud be cheaper than buying a new one. even in junk yards I have not found the whole unit under $30. Plus if you get a used one it could be stuck. If you do it this way you can find out why its stuck, before the glass is glued into place
LOL, well mine moves, besides if they don't then that means GM assumed everyone who bought these cars was the same height
They're not too hard to get off, just take the door pannel off and there are 2 speed nuts that hold it on from the inside. You could just have the glass replaced, but then you'd still have it sticking. Just make sure the one you get has plenty of movement. If you can, get it in the same color, if not, there's always duplicolor.
EDIT: the mirrors were the same for all thirdgen f-bodies as far as I know

My mirror didn't move for the first seven years that I owned my car. BUT now it does. Well here is the secret, I broke my passenger mirror glass by accident, and behind the glass is an adjustable nut mounted on a spring, mounted to a dome shaped rotating cup. The spring pressure on the cup creates tension on the backing plate cup (which the spring cup fits into). If you tighten the nut all the way, the mirror won't move (too much tension), but if you loosen the nut 1/2 turn at a time you get ADJUSTABILITY in the mirror. AND YES you can just buy replacement glass pre-cut. I just got mine, fit perfect, and even says "obects in mirror..." for total with shipping of $24.95. Yes I could have bought a whole new mirror w/housing cheaper at a junkyard, but I have custom paint on the mirror housing, I didn't need to go to a junk yard and I didn't break a sweat. The replacement mirror glass just glues back on with silicon adhesive sealant, just like the original. The website for the mirror is www.automirrors.net or www.nationsglass.com They are the same company. I didn't see mine listed, but just e-mailed 'em and had my replacement in under 5 business days.
Hope this clears things up a bit.

Boy, I guess I sure lucked out. When I bought my car the PS mirror wouldn't move, but was set perfectly for my 6'3" frame.
I'm not gonna worry about it though. I'm the only one who drives my car, lol.
