Camaro hood???

I was walking through the junk yard today looking for a camaro hood to use in making the mold for my new ram air camaro hood. Found a few still on the cars. Then I seen one off the car leaning on the fence. After looking at it I seen it was a factory fiberglass hood for a third gen camaro. I never seen or heard of one from the factory. Anyone have info on this? Also got this realy cool looking knotch back from a third gen that we plan on making next. Will have some pictures of this to post soon if I can find out how to post a picture.

The 82-83 Z28's had fiberglass hoods. The one's with the LU5(crossfire) engine had functional air induction flaps. Pretty cool, huh?

hehehe its fake fiberglass...

they got recalled sometime in 83 for hood separation, which is why they said screw it and started the steel Z hoods for 84 and the last few months of the production run for 83

LU5 hoods are very rare to find in good condition... if you found one with the flap things that are functional... take it, hang it on the wall, and brag

My factory "fiberglass" is completely shot... chips out of the front end, spiderweb cracks all over the thing, and its cracked down the center ...

poor hood. hehe I'll trade ya?
