Is it possible to convert non tilt to tilt steering?

My car has a fixed steering column and this guy is selling a tilt column including a mint steering wheel very cheap so I wanna know if this will be a simple swap.

Very simple swaps. These Saginaw columns that GM used are very friendly. The only thing to be concerned with is the wiring. Make sure that the column you're swapping in has the options that yours does, or be willing to live without what it doesn't. (intermittent wipers, cruise control, etc) I *believe* it's just the steering knuckle, two bolts under the dash and trim and stuff that's standing between you and tiltability.

Good Luck!

Just be aware that the windshield wiper wiring is different between 82-83 and 84-newer columns. When I put the 84Z column into my 83SC, it took most of an afternoon to figure them out.

Pete, that's interesting... I have a 86 (I believe, could be 87) column in my 83, hooked right up and works perfect... is it perhaps an options issue rather than a year-model one?
