Re: 84 trans am door sag
Check the bottom hinge of the door, there should be a brass bushing as part of the hinge. It may be worn out or missing, and need to be replaced. I know mine popped out and it made the door sag an inch or so.

yea ill take a look tomorrrow but what happen to me i had rust at the bottom door and messed it up so the door sag is really bad cuz the door trim
Re: 84 trans am door sag
The only real way to correctly fix the sagging doors is to rebuild the hinges.
TDS has a nice kit to do it.

How did rust at the bottom of the door make it sag? And what do you mean "the door sag is really bad cuz the door trim"?
Perhaps some pics are in order?

Re: 84 trans am door sag
Just replaced mine with the Top Down Solutions kit and the sag is gone. Very happy with the solution and Lon, a participant on this site, was a great help whenever I had a question. He can be contacted at topdownsolutions@yahoo.com or www.top-downsolutions.com. replacing the pins and bushings made a world of difference on my 91.

Re: 84 trans am door sag
Before doing the lower doors on my 82, the bottoms had rusted to the point that the ground effects were catching on the rocker panel. Made it seem like they were sagging. This could be the problem the OP is having. In that case new pins may not solve anything. I know on my car the hinges were still fine.

Time to pull a new door off a junker, preferably one that's still tight in the hinges.

Be patient and try again in a few. They're still showing up with fair regularity.

Re: 84 trans am door sag
I went to a few body shops to have it fixed and they gave me dirty looks and wouldn't even give me a estaminet

Re: 84 trans am door sag
i had a solid tbird (no rust) wit the same problem, didnt wanna spend money on new hinges so i just stuck a 1/2 inch socket in there and sprung the hinge up, worked great, sold it to a buddy and its still fine after a year

Re: 84 trans am door sag
Of course a body shop won't want to touch it. A used door should run you under $50, actually a hair under $45 in Louisville and under $40 in Canton. You don't want to pay what a shop would charge you when the used part is so cheap.
Don't know how far either is from you, but certainly would be worth a day trip to get that fixed. (Louisville pull a part has 4 firebirds).
Bet you could find something even closer.
