hey, im thinking of getting an aftermarket steering wheel. I wanted to keep the stock, but a thicker leather grip is making me reconsider. anyone have any that are really nice?
http://community-2.webtv.net/IROCZZZ/doc/ if this link works there is a pic of my grant sig.series.
Here is mine, a Billet Specialties "Eagle" steering wheel with black leather halfwrap. Get a copy of Street Rodder magazine and look through it. Lots of great ideas there. I am getting the Colorado Customs flamed wheel for my '67 442.

http://www.grantproducts.com/ You might take a peek at what Grant has to offer, if you haven't already. I have no pics, but I recently installed a Signature Series wheel--black leather grip, black three-spoke, with the horn button in black and silver. Also, and this is a personal opinion only, I'd suggest buying the billet styling sleeve. It's very cool and will add to overall appearence.

yeah the price was pretty nice for how good it actually looks in the car, everyone asks me how much I payed for it cause they like it. I might get a different one later down the road, but I'm real happy with it for now.
Sorry I don't have a picture but have you seen the 1990-?? Chev Lumina Z38 stering wheels. It looks almost stock with the bowtie (comes in red and silver) in the middle and it matches up without any kits or modifications and has a bigger grip and a leather wrap. I got one in very nice shape at a bone yard for $25 (just in case you don't want to spend a bunch of money.

GMI, how did you like the Momo? I've been looking at a Momo with a suede leather wrap and was just wondering how you liked it and why you switched to sparco.

I've got the black Grant Challenger wheel as well. I'm very happy with it. It only cost like $50ish bux, looks great in the car, and feels way better than the stock wheel (which looks and feels like *** once you go back to it, my brothers 86 IROC still has the stock wheel).
The Grant Challenger wheel is an excellent upgrade if you're on a budget. If the grip or anything ever wears out I can swap in a new one in like 10 minutes too...

Jim85IROC: Stay away from suede! It looks like crap after a few months of sweaty palms... I absolutely LOVED the Momo Competition! Nice, fat grip. It is now in my friend's '71 Formula. I switched to the Sparco because I needed the thumb switches. I also added a plate with 2 more switches behind the steering wheel. From left to right, the buttons control: 1) horn 2) trans brake 3) line lock 4) GV overdrive. Looks nice and Indy car-ish!

Blue502 - whered you get that a pillar gauge pod for the 3 gauges. What size gauges are those and is the pod worth what you paid for it, or is it a pos.

For gauges I used Autometer's Phantom series in 2-1/16". I highly recommend any of Autometer's gauges (except the lowline AutoGauge brand) over any other brand, but the choice is yours. With the 2-1/16" gauges the fit in the pod is real tight, and you don't need to screw them in, they just press fit.
