Sail Panels shake from Bass... Any suggestions???

Hey guys,

I'm having a problem, the sail panels on my 86 TA vibrate really bad when I turn up the base on my system. I took them off for now but ti looks real ugly, does naybody know what I can do to stop them from Vibrating quite so much?

I was thinking of cutting out holes in it where the speakers are and stethcing a piece of plastic tubing from teh panel to the speaker to direct all the sound out instead of through the sail panel. I am not sure how this would look or how bad I'll mess up my panels.

I realize its a freaky idea, but does anybody have a better proposal?

yeah, dont do that it will mess up the sound ... do this, remove the sail panel and when you re-apply it, put a piece of foam or cloth at the points where it contacts and causes a rattle. this would be the cheap way to do it ... the expensive (and best) way would be to buy the dynomat spray and remove the sail panel and apply under the panel and then put it back on. Not only will this prevent the rattle, it will sound deaden the area which will make it less noisy outside the car and sound better inside. good luck!

if dynamat is out of your price range, just get some good ruberized undercoating, it'll dampen the vibrations, and if any vibrations occur you won't hear them. I'd spray it on the hatch trim where the sail pannels go, that'll get the majority of them.
