Driver side window cost to replace?
Hey guys, so someone tried to break into my car from the looks of my weatherstripping and somewhat failed shattering my window. They left my cd player, cut the speaker wires only going to my amp but left it and my subs so they only made off with a 80 dollar garmin nuvi gps that was 2 years old. Anyways i got a quote from safelite to replace my driver side window for $214. Is this a fair price or could i get it done cheaper some where else? Also how hard would it be to go to a junkyard and pull a window, though i've never tried replacing a window or even taking one out.

If you go to a junkyard chances are most of the hard work is done for you. All the trim, etc will probably already be removed, just a simple issue of popping out the window. And it would be a whole lot cheaper than any shop.

So i went to pick n pull today, got me a window, alternator bracket off a 87 camaro, ignition coil bracke, and a brand new distributor cap and rotor all for $44. Anyways the window is from a manual window door and mine is electric, is the hardware on the windows the same?

Just use your old tracks- I did the same thing and it went in easy peasy. Its the same window. It has a few minor scratches, so I think I will go with the Safelite window after paint, though. My passenger window appears 'mint' but all the drivers windows I have seen or pulled look 'old' and scratched up. Probably because that side obviously gets used several times a day and over time for example window felt screws back out of the door and scratch the glass. I see that ALL the time...
