Re: IROC foglights

Hey kids...being a new member here, naturally I have a question...are the foglights adjustable on an 89 IROC?
Mine appear to be adjusted too high - like into the trees when flying down the country roads...
Also, how much does it cost to replace the lenses? The driver's side is cracked and I would like to replace them both so they match nicely....thanks!

On the top and on the side of the fog light is a phillips screw that you use to adjust them.

Replacement lenses are not available, and new fog lights are insanely expensive. Your best bet is to find some in a junk yard or on ebay.

i may be mistaken as i haven't had fog lights for several years (about to change that), but i think they are adjustable only on the top. if they are out of whack side-to-side, you may want to make sure they aren't mounted backwards. what i mean is that i've seen several cars with factory foglights mounted on the wrong sides. the "tall" side of the foglight glass should be on the outboard side of the vehicle. both irocs i've owned have had them backwards. personally i like the look of the oem foglights, and wouldn't consider using anything else. just my .02

I think that WalMart or Autozone has them. They are called something like Blazer, they are almost identical looking and only cost $15-$20. An idea anyways.

I appreciate all your help! My lights have only the adjustment on the top portion of the lense, so I will give that a try.
If I do happen to find replacements, however, they will be OEM replacement for sure - you know the old saying - only use quality GM parts for your GM vehicle! This car is bone stock right now and in pristine condition with the exception of the cracked and slightly discoloured lenses...okay, maybe a little chipped paint on the front spoiler too...but hey, give me a break, the car is 12 years old!

Their appearance isn't even close. The IROC lights have a very uniquely shaped lense. There are plenty of aftermarket fog lights that may look right from a distance, but up close they will not look the same.

It's tough to tell in the picture, but because of the tilt of the glass, these lights are quite unique.

Jim85IROC - how right you are! I did notice the unigue tapered profile on my foglights, thus the request for information on here. I refuse to replace the entire assembly with some aftermarket foglight that will look crappy. The search will continue until I can find one...I am currently searching the Year One website in seek of the 3rd Gen replacement parts...maybe I will get lucky...too bad about the lousy exchange on the dollar...
Thanks again Jim!

jarrad, look on the glass it will say which side it should say "left" or "right" right on the top of the face of the glass. then you'll be able to figure where the "tall" side is on the inside or the outside.

if you look closely at the picture above, you can see what is meant by the "tall" side of the lamp. that should be on the outboard part of the car. i have to agree w/ everyone- original is the best looking, and nothing looks close. i would always stay w/ the oems
