Jack Points on 86 Trans Am?

I'm trying to replace the manual fuel pump, and fuel line on my 1986 Trans Am 305.

I don't really know where the safest place is to jack up the car.
Any pictures, or diagrams would be great; thanks

lower connecting arm brackets on the body andif you go by the back of the fender if you look underneath the car in that area you will see to circular indent on the part of the of the subframe that connects to the rockers use those indents.

Found these through my searches at one time or another. Have worked for me.

Re: Jack Points on 86 Trans Am?

I normally jack under the front crossmember and the "pumpkin" (rear diff) on the rear axle and put stands under the axle in the rear and either under the a-arms or frame rails up front depending on what I'm messing with. If you don't have subframe connectors, get some as they do wonders for stiffening these cars up and as an added bonus you can jack anywhere under them and lift the whole side of the car up.
I don't suggest jacking the pinch weld on the body; it will just bend. Use towels on top of your jack stands if you place them on your frame rails if the underside is painted or really nice or anything like that and position them to cover as much area as possible so as not to dent the rails.

Re: Jack Points on 86 Trans Am?

Question: Can you use jackstands under tubular a-arms? If so then where is the best place to do this?

That second diagram shows jack stand on the sway bar bushing caps? Seems a little dicey to me. Subframes are where I always put them up front, subs or rear axles in back.

Re: Jack Points on 86 Trans Am?

My problem is that my catalytic convertor/exhaust hangs slightly lower than the front subframe beside the tranny so my jack has a really hard time getting under there, although I sort of managed to get it under there and lift it up half assed but not enough to get my jackstands under there really properly (sigh..) Also when I jack it up from the frontmost subframe part, the rear of that side lifts up as well! This is probably because of the inner and outer subframe connectors that I have installed?
